Schools out and you know what that means...it’s time to get ready for International Convention 2009! Hundreds of college students from all over the globe will be traveling to Birmingham for this amazing event and you definitely don’t want to miss out! This year, the 54th annual Circle K International Convention will be held in Birmingham, Alabama at the Sheraton Birmingham, in the heart of Birmingham’s central business district, from Wednesday-Saturday, August 5-8, 2009. However, the fun and festivities won’t end until late night on the 8th, so plan on staying in Birmingham until August 9th. Birmingham is located at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and has a population of over 1 million people. The city was founded on making steel, and it practically boomed overnight, becoming Alabama’s largest city and henceforth gaining the nickname “ The Magic City.” Nowadays, numerous people visit the city as a cultural and heritage destination. Outside of its strong-rooted history, Birmingham has several local attractions including the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the Southern Museum of Flight, Vulcan Park, McWane Center, Alabama Adventure Theme Park, and the Birmingham Zoo. Besides the numerous hours of service you will be doing, there will also be lots of time for fellowship.
